*** LANYARD HINT for New Cruisers:  Most cruiselines issue each passenger a plastic card upon boarding.   This unlocks your cabin door, is used to pay for all onboard purchases, and is required to get off and on the ship at ports of call.  Many cruisers attach the card to a lanyard, and wear it around their neck.  You can usually request that a hole be punched in the card at the guest services (purser's) desk.
