1965 Dinner Menu
R.M.S. Sylvania
September 24, 1965
From Cunard Line's R.M.S. Sylvania comes this dinning room menu for dinner on September 24, 1965. Artwork, front and back, of what appears to be Venice. Artist's name and date appears on back: "SCHECK 64." In very decent shape (see photos) for a piece of ocean liner memorabilia that is over 40 years old!
Folded size is approximately 10.5" high x 8.25" wide.
Mark on back: 3DF/8234 PRINTED IN ENGLAND
The R.M.S.Sylvania was purpose-built for TransAtlantic voyages in 1947 for the famous Cunard Line. In 1965, she underwent a rebuild that transformed her into a cruise ship. From 1968 onward, sailed under a series of different names: Fairwind, 1968-88 for Sitmar; Dawn Princess, 1988-1993 for Princess Cruises; and Albatros, 1993 to 2003, for Vlaslov. In January of 2004, she suffered on last name change, to the SS Genoa, as she set on on her final voyage - to the breakers. She is no more.
