HAL Delft Blue Ceramic Tile.  The front of the tile shows an old Dutch sailing ship, with the words Holland America Line across the top, and  ms Westerdam across the bottom . Cork back. . A lovely piece of ocean liner memorabilia.  The current Westerdam houses a collection of artwork centered around historic Dutch ships, which this tile no doubt represents.

Holland America Line has sailed three ships named Westerdam, a name reflecting the western point of the compass.  The first, a cargo/passenger ship, sailed for HAL from 1946 to 1965, and was sunk three times before completion.  The second, which was built for Home Lines in 1986 as the Homeric,  was purchased by Holland America Line in 1988.  She sailed as the Westerdam until 2002, when she was transerred to Costa Crociere, and renamed the Costa Europa.  The third Westerdam, also the third of HAL's Vista class ships, debuted in 2004.
